2007-2008 Budget:
PDG Earl Lingle of the Rotary Club of Monroe, Chair of the Finance Committee, presented the 2007-2008 District Budget. This budget had been distributed prior to the meeting for review by each club. This budget provided that the training costs currently borne by each club would shift to the District by a per capita dues increase.
PDG Marguerite Constantine of the Rotary Club of Avoyelles moved to accept the budget as presented. George Wortham of the Rotary Club of West Monroe seconded the motion. District Secretary 2007-2008 Ron Camp then moderated the discussion that followed.
Tom Arceneaux, 2007-2008 Club President of the Rotary Club of Shreveport then provided copies of a stand still budget which would hold the District to the budget of the last 3 years for per capita dues. Incoming Club Presidents or their designated representatives then voted 12 Yes and 9 No to accept the Arceneaux Budget.
Chairman Lingle then provided each person present with a copy of an Alternative Budget which keeps the training costs as a club responsibility but increased the per capita dues to accommodate an increase in district expenses and programs.
Tom Arceneaux moved for adoption of the Alternative Budget. The motion carried unanimously and the Alternative Budget for 2007-2008 was approved.
Included in the approved Budget is a $2.00 per capita assessment to run for 3 years (2007-2008, 2008-2009, 2009-2010) to provide a fund of support for the Host Organization Committee for the 2011 International Convention in New Orleans. This will be accessed with $1.00 to be paid with the District semi-annual dues in July and January.
There was no further business. Adam Bass of the Bossier City Club moved to close the meeting. After a second by Bruce Willson of the Ruston Club, Moderator Doug Allen adjourned the meeting.
Respectfully Submitted,
Judy Bellew
